Hi, I’m Ashley — the baker, decorator, and owner behind Folkmade Cookies, a women and LGBTQIA+ owned home bakery based in Chicago. My journey began at Kendall College, where I studied culinary arts and built a career working in restaurant kitchens, resorts, catering companies, and event planning. Through those experiences, I discovered a true passion for creating meaningful moments that bring people together.

When COVID brought my role as a private dining manager to an unexpected halt, I found myself discovering the world of decorated sugar cookies. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into a passion — and eventually a business — that allows me to combine my culinary background, attention to detail, and love for celebrating life’s sweetest moments.

Every cookie is baked from scratch using high-quality ingredients, including my homemade vanilla extract that takes a full year to brew, and each design is carefully hand-decorated with creativity and care. To me, cookies are more than just dessert — they’re edible art designed to bring joy, connection, and a little extra sweetness to every occasion.

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll usually find me exploring Chicago’s restaurant scene, supporting local businesses, playing disc golf, or spending time with my partner and my pup.
